Committees

Committees are the main way in which SGA initiatives come into fruition. Headed by directors and comprised of legislative representatives and other students, committees are at the heart of SGA.

Most committees are open to everyone, and this semester, most are hosted in person in the SGA office.

ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

Tuesday at 6:00

Linsey Anderson and Rebecca Redeker

Deals with all areas related to University academics and works with UMD's colleges to address academic issues and to carry out initiatives

CIVIC & GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS

Monday at 5:00

Hana Lee and Shivani Sidh

Deals with issues relating to the city, county, state, and federal governments, hosts lobby events in and organizes voter registration and Get Out the Vote efforts

COMMUNICATIONS

Thursday at 4:00

Louis Mancuso

Develops SGA's marketing, branding, and communication plan in order to spread information and promote events and activities happening on campus

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

Tuesday at 4:00

ZyJon McCoy and Chinaza Ofor

Deals with all issues relating to University diversity and inclusion, promotes tolerance within the campus community and works on initiatives that promote equality and equity for all students

FINANCIAL AFFAIRS 

Pranav Ramesh

Oversees all SGA funding processes including the funding of student groups by distributing the Student Activities Fee

HEALTH & WELLNESS

Thursday at 6:00

Saili Khorjekar and Aleezah Khaliq

Deals with all issues relating to student health and well-being, and works on initiatives that promote an environment of nutritional, mental, and overall physical health 

SEXUAL MISCONDUCT PREVENTION

Thursday at 5:00

Interim: Shivani Sidh

Raises awareness about resources available on campus, and develops initiatives that combat and educate about the issue of sexual misconduct on campus

STUDENT AFFAIRS

Monday at 4:00

Imaan Shikoh and Shualmit Frenkel

Promotes the general welfare of the student body by working to improve the safety and security of the campus through initiatives such as the annual Safety Walk

STUDENT GROUPS

Tuesday at 5:00

Gloria Kuate

Oversees the SGA-recognition process of student groups, and communicates information and resources with student organizations 

SUSTAINABILITY

Tuesday at 7:00

Ian Gould and Elise Donnellan

Deals with all issues that pertain to University sustainability and sustainable practices, including monitoring the University's progress on the Climate Action Plan

TRANSPORTATION & INFRASTRUCTURE

Monday at 6:00

Paisley Brockmeyer

Focuses on enhancing student communication with University departments such as DOTS, SFF, and DIT to improve maintenance of UMD campus facility and transportation resources.
