Are you interested in serving as a representative for your peers on the legislature? Or maybe you're interested in coordinating more specific, project based initiatives for the student body with a committee of other students? Either way, there's a place for you in the University of Maryland Student Government Association!
The legislature of the UMD SGA forms resolutions to address student concerns and meets every Wednesday at 6pm. Applications are open for several positions (AGNR, EDHD, Freshman Connection, Greek Residential, Off Campus Neighboring, South Campus Commons, and Courtyards) and the application can be found here. For more information contact Kiely Duffy. We are also looking for a legislative secretary.
Committees of the UMD SGA meet on varying schedules and focus on a particular area of involvement. Like the legislature, committees try to meet the needs of the student body, but this can be in any number of ways, whether it's through lobbying, hosting events, or creating new SGA initiatives. The interest form for committees is open, and will remain open throughout the semester. Responsibilities of committee members are decided by committee directors and will vary. Click here for the committee interest form.
*Please note that the committee on Finance has a separate application process and is excluded from this form. Visit here. **Members of the legislature are allowed to serve on committees.
